The SEAMEO Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts (SEAMEO SPAFA) promotes professional competence, awareness and preservation of cultural heritage, in the fields of archaeology and fine arts in Southeast Asia. It is a regional centre constituted in 1985 from the SEAMEO Project in Archaeology and Fine Arts, which provided the acronym ‘SPAFA’. The Centre is part of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), an international organization dedicated to promoting co-operation in education, science and culture in Southeast Asia.
Seminar in Prehistory of Southeast Asia (WS-18)
Synopsis
The SPAFA Seminar in Prehistory of Southeast Asia was held the first few days at the King Vajiravudh Memorial Hall within the compound of the National Library, Bangkok, before proceeding on to the various venues in southern Thailand. The SPAFA Thai Sub-Centre and the SPAFA Coordinating Unit jointly hosted this Seminar.
Participants in the Seminar included Official Delegates from the SPAFA Participating Member Countries: Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand; Consultants/Experts and Observers from various countries within and outside the region.
